Elize Shirdel holds two engineering degrees from Queen’s University and a Ph.D. in Computational Biology from the University of Toronto. Trained as a Computer and Electrical Engineer, Elize enjoys delving into technical problems, troubleshooting and building great businesses and tech. She’s a mom to two boys, a wife to one husband and enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee.
Meaghan Esser, COO
Meaghan Esser graduated with Bachelor of Arts Degrees in Interdisciplinary Studies from St. Stephen’s University. In addition, she holds a Diploma in Holistic Nutrition from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. Her business experience started at age 9 when she began a company with her two sisters that made samples for a company in Michigan. She has also previously owned a consulting business and a Franchise but now focuses on Datenight, raising her two boys, and traveling the world whenever she gets the chance.
Mary Anderson completed her B.Sc. at Queen’s University in Computer Engineering. After over 10 years, working in the private sector, she decided to leave her role as Software Engineer to find a better work/life balance for her family. As a mother of 3 children, ranging in age from 8 to 4, Mary understands first hand what parents are looking for in a care giver. Every babysitter that she adds to the Ottawa roster is someone she would feel comfortable caring for her own children. Her ultimate goal is to create an amazing group of babysitters to match with busy Ottawa parents.
Megan Porter is a Registered Social Worker who has worked with children and families for nearly fifteen years. She has degrees in psychology and social work. Megan has developed and run social skills and therapeutic groups for children and youth, as well as parenting programs for various ages and stages of development. She was also instrumental in the development, organization and management of a week long overnight camp including the hiring and support of volunteer staff. Megan has two children of her own and according to them her hobbies include wanting everyone to be clean, reading books to children and sometimes being a little bit bossy.
Chloe Sarshar, VP Recruiting
A graduate of George Brown’s Social Service Worker program, Chloe has dedicated the last 10 years to child care and youth development. She has worked as a care giver, day camp program coordinator and a dance teacher. She also holds a degree from U of T in Religious Studies, Political Science and Diaspora Studies. After joining Datenight as a babysitter in early 2014, Chloe is now “Babysitter Liaison” and coordinates events for Datenight around the city. She also continues to work in Community Development with marginalized and vulnerable people. In her spare time, Chloe enjoys dancing with her troupe, The Femme Diagrams, practicing yoga, cycling around the city and walking other people’s dogs.
