THIS WEEK — LINDA PRANGLEY
Welcome to our series on Toronto Mom-Entrepreneurs! Over the next few weeks we’ll feature Toronto moms juggling growing businesses as well as motherhood and learn a little about what they’re up to.
Name: Linda Prangley
Company: Love Me Do Baby & Maternity
LINDA ON BUSINESS
The Pitch: We are a specialty store located in Liberty Village catering to expectant mothers, babies and young children. In addition to a carefully curated selection of products for the modern urban family, we also offer programs and events that educate, inform and foster a sense of community.
Why she got started: When we moved into Liberty Village with our then 6 month old, we noticed that there were so many young families in the area, but nowhere convenient for them to find the essentials and fun stuff that they needed. When you have a little one, you want things to be easy – so we made it happen.
Why it’s better than what’s out there: We carry everything but we are carefully curated at the same time, so you can rest assured that your little one is always getting the best of the best. Our staff is extremely knowledgeable about every product that we carry and we pride ourselves on having “above and beyond” customer service.
On where she wants to be in 5 years: We want to be the very best store that we possibly can be in every possible way.
LINDA ON MOTHERHOOD
Kids: 1 girl, 2 1/2.
Most taxing time of the week: Getting ready for school in the morning. No matter how hard I try, we always end up leaving exactly 10 minutes later than we need to.
Thing that you never thought you would do as a mother — that you do all the time: I never thought that I would be so comfortable dealing with ANOTHER human’s bodily functions and fluids.
Does she let her kids jump on the couch? Absolutely! It’s also an excellent performance stage.
Most impressive dinner (in terms of health and ease of concoction) that her kids will actually eat: “Sneaky Mac and Cheese” I make mac and cheese the regular way, but mix carrot puree into the “cheese” sauce. Yum!
Best Time of the Day: First thing in the morning. My daughter is VERY chatty and loves to tell me about her dreams. She also offers free concerts live from her bed. She’s delicious.
Messy House or Neat House: Definitely messy.
Favourite Book at the Moment: Tap the Magic Tree by Christie Matheson (kids) + The Confidence Code by Katty Kay & Claire Shipman (grown-ups).
ON HER NEIGHBOURHOOD: LIBERTY VILLAGE
Favourite Park: High Park for sure! It’s a little farther but we love it!
Local Special Treat: The mini cupcakes from For the Love of Cake are just the right size.
Best kept secret: The cheese counter at Bespoke Butcher has Black Truffle Pecorino that is to die for.
