Datenight Babysitting – Frequently Asked Questions from our Users
What if my date is shorter or longer than I booked a babysitter for?
Although it’s difficult to know exactly how long you will need a babysitter for, we ask that you try to stick close to the booking time in order to be fair to the babysitter – and if you are going to be much later, that you check with the babysitter that she doesn’t have plans or another job to be at. In terms of payment – you are asked to submit the hours that the babysitter was there – regardless of start or end time. Payment is done on the quarter hour.
What if I forget to submit the hours the babysitter was there for? Can I set up auto payment so I can skip this step?
In order to transfer money to babysitters in a timely manner, if a parent does not pay by noon the next day, we text the babysitter and ask her/him to submit the hours worked and we auto-charge your card. We will not charge your card without confirming the hours works as we know this can vary however if you would like to skip the payment step, just let the babysitter submit the hours the next day.
When I try to book a date, I don’t see all of the babysitters that I interviewed.
If a babysitter is not showing up for you, it either means that you didn’t approve the babysitter as a match or the babysitter didn’t approve you as a match. We remind both parties to respond to the match but if you are unsure if you have outstanding approvals, check the “To do” section of your interviews.
I need a babysitter for a specific date but none of mine are available.
Not to worry – this is one large advantage of being part of the Datenight platform. Simply go to your app and press “find babysitters” and then “I have a date in mind” – put in the date that you need somebody and the request will go out on a first come first serve basis to babysitters available for that date. If the interview is successful – don’t forget to approve them as a match and send them a date request!
I sent out an interview request based on a specific babysitting date but only one babysitter has gotten back to me.
The type of request you sent is a first-come first-serve request. Since you are looking for a specific date, only babysitters who can work that day will accept – and it’s not fair for multiple babysitters to be holding the date for you. If you wish to interview more than one babysitter, just send out general interview requests.
How can I send out requests to multiple babysitters at once?
This is one of our favourite features of the app! There are two ways to send requests to multiple babysitters. 1. Concurrent – this sends out the request to all babysitters at the same time and whoever accepts first gets the job. Simply press the button at the bottom of the screen that says “send to ALL babysitters.” 2. Consecutive – this allows you to order the request in your preference of babysitters – so that if your first pick declines, it then sends out to your second pick and so on. Each method has its merits but keep in mind that sending out a concurrent request will yield much faster results.
How can I access my babysitter’s references after I’ve interviewed them?
You can do this in the “My interviews” section under the “Interviewed” tab on your app. For privacy reasons we do not show references after 10 days past the interview so please check references in a timely manner.
How many babysitters should I interview?
We recommend having at least three babysitters on your roster to increase the likelihood of you finding coverage for when you need. Babysitters are busy too – they have school commitments, their own social life and other families they babysit for. Don’t forget about our “guaranteed available” feature where you can interview a babysitter who guarantees she’s free on the date that you need!
